San Francisco Voters Show Rare Signs of Maturity

Wow, who would have thought it possible that voters in San Francisco were capable of mature electoral decisions:

But Proposition K, the prostitution measure, lost by 16 percentage points. ...

(Here's the description of K: A measure decriminalizing prostitution in San Francisco, requiring the city to stop enforcing prostitution laws, and restricting resources to anti-prostitution programs.)

Meanwhile, this election's wackiest ballot measure, Proposition R - which would rename a city sewage plant after the current president - went down in flames.

(Here's the description of R: An ordinance changing the name of the city-owned Oceanside Water Pollution Control Plant to the George W. Bush Sewage Plant. )

Only 31% approved Prop R. There may still be some hope for Sodom-on-the-Bay.
