Bo Snerdley, the producer of Rush Limbaugh's show, made a good point today when he mentioned to Rush that if we had any real journalists left in Washington, this stimulus bill would have been a dream for them. He's right.
Try to imagine this same bill being offered by President McCain and promoted by Republicans. Every journalist in D.C. would be burning the midnight oil, examining every paragraph and spending item, to try and show all the items in the bill that could not qualify as economic stimulus. The papers and evening news broadcasts would be full of embarrassing lists of items that made their way into the bill. Democrats would be calling for a slowdown in the process and committee hearings to examine the merits of each item.
But no. We don't have real journalists in Washington anymore. We have fawning sycophants of the Dem party who have convinced themselves that Obama is a higher being and therefore we must embrace whatever He offers us because it comes from Him. WE MUST DO SOMETHING because He says we must. It doesn't matter whether that something might actually work.
Journalism as we used to know it is dead.
