Will the Last Productive Californian Leaving the State Please Turn Out the Lights?

For nearly 100 days the budget of the State of California has been overdue, and this is the best our elected leaders could come up with:
Vehicle license fees would nearly double, going from the current rate of 0.65% to 1.15% of the value of a car or truck. The sales tax would increase by 1 cent, raising the rate in Los Angeles County to 9.75%. Gasoline taxes would increase by 12 cents a gallon. And Californians would pay a new surcharge on their personal income taxes, amounting to 2.5% of their total tax bills.

So, while we continue to pay huge sums to support illegal aliens or other liberal/socialist social policies in this state, the productive citizens are getting raped.

Every Republican that votes for this should be recalled or voted out next time around.

The Democrats and Gov. Arnold who put this together vastly underestimate the creativity of California taxpayers. I guarantee you that people will look for ways to get around these new fees wherever they can.

As for me, with my sales tax slated to go to 8.75%, I'm going to make a concerted effort to buy anything I need from online out-of-state sources that don't charge sales tax. If you're a little bit creative and a little bit patient, you can find some of those discretionary purchases elsewhere.

Meanwhile, every Californian who has the ability and desire to move will likely do so. Productive talent will flee, and the low-skilled uneducated illegals will continue to pour in.

Good luck getting significant taxes out of them.
