I decided to take the new camera out for a test spin to shoot some favorite subjects - trains coming though the Fullerton train station. I still have much to learn with this camera, but I came up with a few nice shots:
After sunset, looking north toward Los Angeles.
A westbound freight pulling a load of tank cars roars through the station on the center track.
The Southwest Chief pulls in making its first stop on the way to Chicago, where it will arrive 34 hours later. It has a green signal, just waiting for the conductor to make the call to pull out.
Another view of the twin locomotives that power the Southwest Chief. Back in 1962 just after I finished kindergarten, my family took what was then called the Santa Fe Superchief on this same route all the way to Kansas City and back.
A little closer view of the head end of the Southwest Chief.
Shortly after the Chief departed a northbound Pacific Surfliner pulled in.
