Obama's Fourth Primetime TV Special

Don Surber thinks the networks should just say no:
A fourth presidential prime-time hour in 3 months is too much.

President Obama wants an hour on national television at 8 p.m. on Wednesday to pat himself on the back for completing 100 days in office.

Considering his previous performances, the networks should tell him no.

This would be his third, hourlong prime-time press conference. Add his hourlong State of the Union address, this is his fourth prime-time special.

His ratings are not that good and he comes with no commercial breaks.

Like any infomercial.

The presidential press conference will center on the economy, which he tanked with his bailouts and his “stimulus” package. Obama has undermined the world’s confidence with his plans to borrow about $5 trillion over the next 4 years.

The irony is by swiping of another hour of prime time, Obama will hurt the TV networks that agree to broadcast him.

Even if every TV in the country tuned in it would still be a loser for the networks since they can't run ads.

Certainly there is a responsibility on the part of the media to cover presidential press conferences, but do you think for one minute all networks would have carried four primetime events in three months for President Bush? And in the middle of sweeps? Not a chance.

Obama knows he's got the media firmly attached to his rear end and they're afraid to turn him down. He'll play them for all it's worth.

Look for the ratings to be down on this one. The media may think they have to cover it, but the people know they don't have to watch it.
