Here's a few more shots and the video from yesterday's Railway Festival at the Orange Empire Railway Museum in Perris, CA (there are additional photos here). We took our first ride behind the steam engine in these 1924 Southern Pacific passenger cars. They were recently refurbished for use in the movie "The Changling". I paid an extra $10 to ride in the cab of the Southern Pacific 3100 diesel. Here we're watching the engineer drive us northbound toward Perris Depot.
Looking over the engineer's shoulder as we move long behind some homes in Perris. Given the volume of the train's horn, I've got to believe these busy weekends can be tough on the neighbors.
About halfway down the mainline there's a siding where northbound and southbound trains can pass. We're headed north on the siding as the steam train passes backing southbound to the museum.
And here's the video. The new camera also can take about 8 minutes of digital video, so I grabbed some shots of the steam train, the Pacific Electric Red Car, and from the cab of the diesel.
