The Wedding

I'm trying to catch up on my photos from the Michigan trip and will do so in a series of posts. This is the first.

On Friday our activities were centered around the wedding of my niece Julie Austin to Igor Seprak in Rochester Hills, MI. We began the morning at the reception hall where our crew of wedding volunteers prepared the hall for the evening's festivities. We had to drape 100 chairs and tie them up with the decorative sashes:

For awhile there it looked like we were setting up for Klan meeting. There were white sheets everywhere. I kept expecting Sen. Robert Byrd to show up.
Heading over to church we got there early to help with the set-up there, and had a family photo snapped while we were waiting. The boy didn't go with us on this trip.
My daughter had a pretty key role in the wedding. She played a lengthy solo piece right before the wedding started (to much applause - something I've never heard at a wedding), and accompanied two special songs during the ceremony.
I snapped a photo of my nephew Bryan who was hanging out with the ring bearer, Shep. Shep's their 10-year old German shepherd who became a family pet when he was unable to become a guide dog due to hip problems. Shep walked down the aisle with the rings when his time came and then sat down at my brother-in-laws feet and went to sleep. Animals are pretty big to my niece - she's currently in Veterinary School at Michigan State.
I didn't take photos during the ceremony, but did snap this shot of the newly married couple as they walked back up the aisle.
Julie is quite a artist as well as an animal lover, and some years ago she drew this picture of my daughter that was taken from a photograph of her when she was about four.
There was much dancing, especially from my great nephew, 15-month old Grant Austin, who boogied the night away with one of the sashes that had come off of the chairs.
