Low-Salt Diet Harmful to Seattle Mayor

Way back on December 23, 2008 I wrote a post about the decision in Seattle not to use road salt after a particularly heavy blizzard because the officials there were afraid the salt would run off into Puget Sound...which happens to be full of salt water. It was a dumb decision and now has cost the mayor his job:

Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels conceded defeat Friday in his bid for a third term, failing to advance past the primary after getting battered for his bungling of December snowstorms that paralyzed the city.

Snow problems have changed more than one mayor in Chicago as well.

When the snow flies the citizens expect the city government to respond, not play stupid environmental wacko games while people are stuck in their homes.
