What They Said and What They Mean

I got this Tweet earlier from Marc Ambinder at Newsweek:
Gibbs dials down Geithner/Summers straight talk on health care, says taxes won't rise for middle class Americans as a result of health care.
This was in response to the word from Turbo Tax Timmy Geithner that the adminstration "would do whatever it takes" and would not rule out a middle class tax hike to deal with deficits.

However, with any statement from the Obama team you have to look carefully at every word and this one is easy. "Taxes won't rise for middle class Americans as a result of health care". The statement doesn't say taxes won't rise for middle class Americans...period.

Just not because of health care.

The Chicoms who are currently funding this administration are pressuring Obama to get the deficit under control, so when they announce the new middle class taxes you can expect the reason to be reducing the deficit or paying for the stimulus bill.

Just not health care.
