Networks Circle the Wagons Around Fox News

I haven't been able to find this reported anywhere except on Special Report, but earlier today there was a showdown between the five major TV networks and the White House. Interviews were scheduled with Kenneth Feinberg, Obama's Pay Czar, and the White House stated that all of the five broadcast networks in the TV pool could participate...except Fox News.

Believe it or not, that didn't sit well with CBS, NBC, ABC and CNN. Their news directors got together and informed the White House if Fox wasn't included, they'd pass on the event. The White House backed down.

That's exactly what should have happened. The networks should be fighting on Fox's side in this war with Obama, because once Obama goes after one network and succeeds there's nothing to stop them from going after anyone or everyone else. This democracy works best with a free and impartial press (though none of the networks are completely impartial), and none of the major media should sit back and allow the government to target one of their peers.

I rarely have anything nice to say about CBS, NBC, ABC or CNN, but they did well today.

UPDATE: Here's the video report from Special Report:
