Sarah Palin Endorses Conservative Independent in NY-23

Very interesting. Sarah Palin has endorsed the conservative independent candidacy of Doug Hoffman in NY-23. I've written about the mess the GOP has made of this race by nominating a DIABLO (Democrat in all but label only) to run against a more conservative Democrat and the much more conservative Hoffman. Facebook users (and maybe others - not sure if non-Facebookers can access it) can read Palin's comments here. Politico also has the story here.

The liberal GOP candidate Dede Scozzafava has been in a free-fall lately and this might push her completely to irrelevance in this race. Right now the Democrat is polling ahead with Hoffman coming on.

If Palin really wants to make a difference in that campaign, she should schedule a trip there next week. The election is on Nov. 3rd and that would really send a message to the GOP and the voters of that district.

I'm not generally a fan of third party or independent candidacies, but in this case the GOP choice was clearly bad and unworthy of the party's support.

The officially-endorsed GOP candidate is the new face of the GOP. They are the DIABLO Party. Newt Gingrich endorsed Scozafava (sic); Newt has been mentioned prominently for candidate for POTUS in 2012. The GOP is NOT conservative and not worthy of the support of conservatives.
