Global Warming is to Science What Scientology is to Religion

First, these headlines from the growing ClimateGate scandal:
UK: Pretending the climate email leak isn't a crisis won't make it go away...
US: Impression left by emails is that global warming game has been rigged from start...
AUSTRALIA: Five MPs lead the way by resigning in disgust over carbon tax...
NEW ZEALAND: Climate Science Coalition caught lying about temp trends...
As I was making the long drive home from Las Vegas yesterday I was thinking about the unraveling of the global warming scam that's currently underway. Of course, the term "global warming" went out of favor a couple of years ago when the promoters of the scam could not longer hide the fact that the globe stopped warming in 1998. Consequently, the preferred term became "climate change" because that can cover a host of situations and is much harder to define.

I've long compared global warming to a religion of its own, and the comparison to Scientology is not that far off. Scientology is the religion for the cool kids, the popular and famous people like Tom Cruise and John Travolta. In Scientology the individual is god, and by using his intellect and a lot of money to buy their courses he can raise himself to a higher spiritual plane and save himself and the poor ignorant people that rely on the cool kids to know how to act.

Global warming has been science for the cool kids, the popular and famous people like Al Gore, various actors and Hollywood types, and liberal politicians. In global warming man is god, and by using his intellect and lots of other people's money man can "save the planet". The cool kids thought they were doing us a favor by leading the way, showing the rest of us the sacrifices we must make to ensure the survival of the species. They were going to save us.

Of course, it's always been the height of arrogance for man to assume that he has that kind of power over the planet, and that even with the very best intellect and lots of money he could noticeably change Mother Gaia's temperature. However, thanks to a compliant media that was unwilling to apply the kind of scrutiny to global warming claims that they've applied to Sarah Palin's new book, the notion of "consensus" when it came to global warming was unchallenged. Add to that the power of two individuals - Michael Mann in the U.S. and Phil Jones in the UK - not to mention James Hansen at NASA, scientists who disagreed with global warming theology were mocked and derided as heretics. Pretty much the same thing goes on in Scientology.

Now we have evidence that the books have been cooked (not to mention the global temperatures) and yet the mainstream media still refuses to cover the story. They orthodoxy that requires compliance with global warming theology is so ingrained in the media that evidence of a scandal, which would normally cause reporters to fall all over each trying to get the scoop, is now dismissed without comment. We no longer have a free press - we have a press that's become a slave to liberal politics.

Scientology is a cult, but no more of one than global warming.

The press had no person who could unravel the hoax...until the mangled data came to light. It is sad to note that the new information is not yet blared aloud by all media.

"yet the mainstream media still refuses to cover the story."

Which is why "Climaquiddick" is said to be a better name. They were all over Watergate, so "-gate" doesn't fit well.

Man as god....you just described idolatry.

As all analogies, this one breaks down too, but I agree with it.

Another aspect of Scientology that is sick. If you are not the rich popular kid, you can still join the cult and get your "past life healings" but must give your life to it, live there, work there to pay for your "treatment". People who do this are kept from the world, their families and outside influence. They are very underfed and look sick, like they have aids. Because it is a "religion" these things are rarely covered by the media.

Global Warming believers in society today are also underfed...underfed facts, truth and reason. Like the duped population in Atlas Shrugged they blindly follow what they've been told by their leaders, that those who use reason and truth are the enemy.

It is so sad, news people used be highly regarded and new how to tell the truth. The majority of news personnel today make their life's earnings by accepting lies as fact, and also writing and printing such lies. I think after a while they actually believe their own lies. Today many news people have lowered themselves to be next to scum.

This is the whole issue in a nutshell. This is an attempt by man to deny the existence of God, at least a God who is in control of things like the climate of the earth. This is an attempt to ascribe those powers of God to man.

It is a spiritual battle. If God wins, we keep the blessing of liberty which He gives. If The Enemy wins, we lose liberty.

I'm picking God's side in this battle, and I'm determined to go "all in to win".

What is so infuriating to me is not simply that we were being lied to (I think it was clear our legged was not just being pulled but was being snatched off) it is the fact that despite all of this it hasn't put a hitch in the Econut's giddy up...
they are moving forward as though nothing has happened.

Just like so called health care reform, Cap and Trade and various global climate change infinitives will be shoved down our throats the facts be damned!

Having the proverbial fool for a lawyer isn't bad enough? Gotta be your own God?

(Looks, though, like it has somewhat of a down side.)

When will the cool people ever learn?
