Obama Almost Takes My Advice

In 2004 during my earliest days of blogging I commented on the annual turkey pardon done by the president. I suggested that some day I'd like to hear a president say this at the turkey pardoning ceremony:

"Every year we send these birds off to the zoo, but this year, we're eatin' 'em!"

Today President Obama said this, according to Mark Knoller's Twitter feed:

"I was planning to eat this sucker..." he said of Courage the Turkey, whom he eventually pardoned.

He came so close to greatness.
