I didn't mind it a bit, though last year's trip home turned into an odyssey when The Grapevine was closed for heavy snow and we had to make a detour to the coast that added over 2 hours to our drive. That wasn't much fun.
This year she got her own car, but that's not coming home. Given the high mileage on her little Chevy we're going to leave it up north for the two weeks she'll be home. She'll be hitching a ride with her roommate whose family lives in Huntington Beach, not that far from here. All I have to do is go pick her up. Piece of cake.
She would normally be home all the way until February 1st when the new semester starts, but she gets bored pretty quickly around here. Almost all of her friends live up north so there's not much for her to do. We decided this year that rather than have her sitting around moping for six weeks we're going to send her back on January 3rd to take two G.E. classes during Intersession. She can knock out six units in just four weeks.
I will be driving her back. I'm not completely off the hook.
