Just a Random Thought

Yesterday the Supreme Court in the Citizen's United case threw out a campaign finance law from 1907 (among other things). I'm sure some would have considered that "settled law".

In 1954 the Brown v. Board of Education ruling overturned Plessy v. Ferguson from 1896, declaring that "separate but equal" was unconstitutional, even though it had been considered "settled law" for 58 years.

Why then are we required to consider the 37-year old Roe v. Wade decision as untouchable?
