Never Talk on Your Cellphone in Your Car While Transporting Illegal Drugs

Lesson learned:
A police officer who pulled over a man who was talking on his cell phone discovered the man had more than a pound of marijuana, several ounces of methamphetamine, a stun gun, tear gas and an outstanding warrant for his arrest, officials said.

Bruce Guiver, 47, was arrested about 8 a.m. Jan. 6 at Brookhurst Street and Villa Pacific Drive in Huntington Beach after a police officer stopped him for talking on his cell phone while driving, said Huntington Beach police spokesman Lt. Russell Reinhart.

Guiver gave the officer an invalid driver's license, which promoted the police to check Guiver's record, Reinhart said.

The officer found that Guiver had an outstanding arrest warrant for the transportation of a controlled substance in Butte County in northern California, Reinhart said.

The officer also discovered the methamphetamine, marijuana, stun gun and canister of tear gas in the car, Reinhart said. It is illegal for Guiver to posses a stun gun and tear gas because he has a prior felony conviction. Reinhart did not elaborate on Guiver's prior convictions.

Guiver is in custody at Orange County jail and his bail is set at $75,000.

Next time you're transporting illegal drugs, be sure to get a hands-free device for your phone.
