Tornado Warning for Orange County

Biblical Rainstorm 2010 is really getting interesting now. We have a tornado warning for Orange County and business is really picking up outside. Heavy rain, wind, and thunder. Where's my basement when I really need it?

That string of red is due here in a few minutes. That's where the potential for a tornado is.

UPDATE: Now hearing radio reports from the Fire Department that a tornado has touched down in parts of Costa Mesa. At least one commercial building with a roof gone.

UPDATE 2: The worst has passed. No tornado, but lots and lots of rain. Hearing reports from the Fire Department of major flooding in Lake Forest area - El Toro road impassable and the FD rescuing people from stranded cars. That was a pretty impressive storm.

UPDATE 3: Shot a little bit of video as the heaviest rain came overhead, and a shot of my homemade backyard pump that's keeping things under control back there.

I just heard on Ch.9 the storm is on it's way to Mission Viejo.

Batten down the hatches my brother.

I was born in Glendale in 1939--live in Glendale or nearby (Sherman Oaks in the Valley when I was tiny, in the Atwater (aka "Toonerville") district all of my school years through Junior High School, Glendale or Montrose until I move to the Bay Area in the late 60's until late 1989.

Never ever heard of a tornado west of Kansas.

Live in Nebraska now and they are what keeps the TV stations in business. (Son-in-law moved here from Santa Clarita, called one night all in a panic--he'd been watching the several TV stations, each with a bigger and more scary screech about a T-storm in the area. I said "first thing, turn off the TV. The house you are in has been there a hundred years. If the siren across the street (at a highschool) goes off, go to the basement.")
