Gallup did a state-by-state poll asking people whether they were conservative, moderate or liberal. Nationally 40% identify themselves as conservative, 36% as moderate, and 21% as liberal. What's interesting about their results is that in every state, even the states considered most liberal, more people identified themselves as conservative than liberal.
You can see the results and the charts
here.
By the way, if you're looking to move to the most conservative states, they would be Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Idaho, Oklahoma, Utah, North Dakota, South Carolina, South Dakota and Arkansas.
You can probably guess which ones are the most liberal.

I notice Oregon is supposedly more conservative than liberal. The recent passing of two tax measures does not support the case.
Don't forget the large group of self-identified moderates in each state. The can swing either way and probably gave you your new taxes.
