An Army doctor is under investigation after questioning on YouTube whether President Obama is U.S.-born -- then disobeying orders to report for duty in Afghanistan.I don't have any more sympathy for this guy than I had for any of those guys during the Bush Administration who refused to go to Iraq because they decided that was an illegal war. Soldiers don't get to make that call. The chain of command has to remain intact or we end up with anarchy instead of a military.
Lt. Col. Terrence Lakin failed to report to Fort Campbell, Ky., on Monday, showing up instead at his old job in a clinic in the Pentagon. He was reassigned immediately to Walter Reed Army Medical Center while the investigation is under way.
Though officials in Hawaii verify that Obama was born there, so-called "birthers" claim he was born outside the U.S. and is ineligible to be president.
Lakin says he wants to see the birth certificate as proof Obama is his commander in chief and thus that the deployment order for Afghanistan is legal.

Soldiers may take such a stance at any time with knowledge that the action is grounds for military trial and punishment. If the military trial proceeds, and if the evidence supports the President's status the officer must be prepared to accept the punishment. The only question remaining is whether the military court will decide the issue without legal documentation of the President's status.
Terry Lakin will find out that beliefs and facts are two very different things and in the end his courts-martial will be his own public humiliation for believing something he can not prove. I would love to be there during the military trial and find out what facts he has, internet gossip? Let's face it no one will take the Birthers seriously until they win a case, but until then, they will continue to appear dumb, crazy or racist, or maybe all three. The old GOP Confederacy, that is what these liars want, good luck with that.
