America Speaking Out

The GOP has plans for a series of town hall meetings with constituents in order to solicit their ideas:
House Republicans next week kick off “America Speaking Out,” a series of town halls and social-media drives to get input for a “governing agenda.” The logo is an old-fashioned radio mike. GOP Leader John Boehner and Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), the project’s chairman: “‘Later this year, House Republicans plan to offer the nation a clear set of solution that we can be expected to fight for. … Using the best of social media, personal communication technologies, and old-fashioned conversation, we are going to give the wisdom and the will of the American people a voice in building our nation’s agenda.” The project’s co-chair is Rep. Peter Roskam (R-Ill.), a former DeLay and Hyde staffer.
It's not enough to solicit input, you've also got to take the best ideas and put them into practice. We can't have a repeat of the 1994 Contract With America that seemed to disappear within weeks of the new GOP congress taking power.
