Don Surber has more:
Conventional wisdom is that Republicans made a mistake when Arizona decided to enfforce existing U.S. law. For 70 years, federal officers have legally been able to stop someone and ask for their papers. The GOP shouldn't be afraid to be on the right side of the law. Let the whiners whine, but don't give in.
It’s the law.
But rather than hurting Republicans, I argued that it works well for Republicans because people are tired of illegal aliens being treated better than actual citizens. I wrote: “But the Republicans are toughening immigration law in Arizona. They are calling for enforcement. That may piss off Hispanics (two thirds of whom are Democrats) but that may please Asians (Indians, Koreans, Japanese, Vietnamese, Filipinos and others) who obey the law and follow the rules and put up with more prejudices and racism than any other group in America — and a good deal of it comes from non-whites.”

I'm afraid the Republican "leadership (?)" will do whatever they can to appease the whiners, and shoot themselves in the foot. Good grief, even Karl Rove came out on the side of the whiners, and Rubio is hedging.
There are very clear laws on illegal immigration - all Arizona is saying is that we should enforce them. The Dems want to simply erase constitutional laws by their 'reform act' - no discussion, no debate, no compromise. Does anyony really believe this is out of personal altruism? This is pure vote mongering.
