OC Fairgrounds Sale to Costa Mesa Okayed

But a bunch of petulant Latino politicians may try to screw up the deal:
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's administration announced Wednesday that it has tentatively agreed to sell the Orange County Fairgrounds to the city of Costa Mesa for $96 million.

The state Legislature, however, also must approve the deal, and some Latino lawmakers have said they may try to defeat it after the City Council declared people who are in the country illegaly unwelcome in Costa Mesa....

The 25 members of the Latino caucus account for roughly 20 percent of both the state Assembly and state Senate, but state Sen. Gilbert Cedillo, the caucus chairman, noted that other lawmakers, like Senate Leader Darrell Steinberg, have come out in strong opposition to Arizona's new anti-illegal immigration law and likely would support the caucus' opposition to Costa Mesa.

“I helped get the negotiations started, so I’m pleased that the Governor’s office and City of Costa Mesa have agreed to terms of the sale. Now the City’s real challenge is getting legislative approval, which apparently they might need,” said OC Assemblyman Jose Solorio, D-Santa Ana, in an email. Solorio is a member of the Latino caucus.

“I have a bill ready to go to help, but need to be convinced it’s a good deal for Orange County residents,” he wrote. “Also, I know many of my legislative colleagues have great concerns about Costa Mesa’s recent anti-immigrant ordinance, so that will definitely be a factor and the City will need to address it.”
Costa Mesa is a "rule of law" city and that just bugs the Latino activists to no end. Because Costa Mesa has taken a tough stand on illegal immigration (and future Democrat voters), the Latino caucus has their sombreros in a knot and wants to punish the city. Of course, stopping this sale will punish the State of California which really needs the money, and will open the door to a private owner who might just decid to develop the property into something else.

We live in a world today in which elected politicians believe in punishing people for obeying the law.  Amazing.

This Hispanic group must be a bunch of illiterate nuts if they don't believe in following the laws of the land. Illegal Aliens (Undocumented Workers) and plain and simple Criminals breaking our Immigration Laws. Any group of politicians not supporting the laws of our land are plain stupid and have no business representing the State of California.

Every state needs to step up to the plate and follow the laws that are already in place, and if the illegals don't like it, go home. Why do the illegals get a vote anyway?

I am, unfortunately, not amazed at this development. Those Latino elected officials see this land as part of Mazatlan, not California, so they figure they can do with it whatever they wish.
