The first cloture vote on the tax bill appears to be sailing through rather easily despite the threats from the liberals. At last count the vote is 81-12 with two Republicans (Coburn & Ensign) joining 10 Dems in opposing the measure. The vote will remain open for awhile longer, but the result will be the same. I believe the final vote will come on Wednesday before it's set to the House.
Once that bill clears the Senate you can look for Harry Reid to try and jam the DREAM (Amnesty) Act through, hoping to get some GOP defections that will carry him to 60 votes. Doesn't look terribly likely at this point, but you never know with the RINO crowd.
UPDATE: Final vote on tax bill 83-15. Five Republicans vote "No".
