Wow, rough ride out of L.A. today. Combine rain, traffic, darkness and California commuters and you have the recipe for a mess.
After seemingly endless slogging into downtown L.A. we were finally north of the worst area when we came to a stop in Burbank. I noticed there were no cars on the southbound side and was glad the problem was likely over there.
Just a short distance ahead we arrived on the scene just as the CHP did and found a big-rig sprawled on its side across all the lanes of the I-5, and behind that another that had jackknifed. As we drove past in the fast lane I was surprised to find a truck axle and wheel set sitting in the center divider on MY side if the concrete divider. The divider wasn't broken and the axle looked like someone had just dropped it over the fence. How it got there without ending up in traffic is a mystery. Glad we didn't get there at the same time.
Rest of the trip was a piece of cake. It's wet up here, but I'm getting used to that.
