55. Double nickels. The speed limit under Jimmy Carter. The eligibility point for the old people's menu at Denny's. A mythical dividing line between the coveted 25-54 demographic and the far less coveted senior citizens.
And that's where I am as of today.
My Facebook wall overfloweth with nice birthday wishes (thanks) and a lot of old people cracks. I don't feel any older than I did 25 years ago, but feelings don't count. As far as the marketing world goes, I'm a less desirable customer...a senior citizen.
I'll be spending the day driving south following my daughter's Senior Recital last night (no, it wasn't dedicated to my age - she's a senior in college). However, as we head down I-5 there's one thing I won't be doing...double nickels.

Happy Birthday! Have many more.
Happy Birthday. My 72nd is a week away.
You have SO much more to look forward to--throwing out old cultural references to grandchildren, aches, pains, twinges, getting up more often in the night...worth it, regardless. Happy, Happy Joy Day!
But look on the bright side -
At least the meals will be cheaper on your trip down I-5!!
Hope you had a great day, and many happy more!!
