Rachel Schouten wants to share her love of music with others. That’s why this Mission Viejo High School musician and Girl Scout is hosting a Music Showcase for elementary students on Saturday, June 4.Well done, Rachel. I hope it's a successful event.
The showcase is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the band room at the high school located at 25025 Christanta Drive.
For her Girl Scout Award, Rachel wanted to provide a day that would inspire kids to have fun with an instrument like she did while in grade school.
“I played the violin throughout all of my years of schooling and recently got accepted as a violin performance major at Chapman University,” she said. “Music is now my life, and I would love to spread the happiness it gives me to the students of our community.”
Rachel has hosted music showcases for children of all ages and has done presentations to the fourth, fifth, and sixth graders at four Mission Viejo elementary schools. This free showcase will feature music teachers, several different instruments for kids to play, crafts, high school students, and more.

My daughter will graduate next week with a Music Education degree from Sonoma State University, and my son has played in the Saddleback College Wind Ensemble for two years and will be playing at Sacramento State this Fall. The music programs in this area are very, very good and deserve our support. They make better kids.
