Morning Email

From Amazon.com:
Unfortunately, Governor Brown has signed into law the bill that we emailed you about earlier today. As a result of this, contracts with all California residents participating in the Amazon Associates Program are terminated effective today, June 29, 2011. Those California residents will no longer receive advertising fees for sales referred to Amazon.com, Endless.com, MYHABIT.COM or SmallParts.com. Please be assured that all qualifying advertising fees earned before today will be processed and paid in full in accordance with the regular payment schedule.
So, every one of the thousands of Californians who received a small income from Amazon sales through their websites has now been shut out thanks to the idiots in Sacramento. You see, they can't tell the difference between a brick-and-mortar store and an ad run on a website. They're morons.

I was wrong yesterday when I suggested that California residents would no longer be able to use Amazon. They still can, and in fact I highly encourage it. I'm going to go out of my way to look for opportunities to buy things I need via Amazon or other out-of-state internet services rather than give my money to the State of California in the form of sales taxes. California can go to...well, you know.
