Oslo and the "Conservative Christian" Attacker

Like most rational people, upon hearing about the Oslo, Norway attacks and the underlying tensions between radical Islamists and the Norwegian government, I assumed the attack was conducted by Islamic factions.  Given that something like 99% of terror attacks in the world today have Islamic connections, that was a completely justifiable response.

This time I was wrong, and the reaction from the Islamic apologists is quite telling.  While attempting to hide or discount the Islamic connections in previous attacks, they're almost gleeful that this attacker calls himself a "Conservative Christian" on his Facebook page.  Of course, any murderous attack has no connection to real Christianity - just as we're told that no true Muslim would conduct terror attacks (and yet so many attacks are connected to various branches of Islam followed by millions of people).

Erick Erickson has a good piece on the subject here, and I encourage you to read it.  I think he sums it up pretty well.

It is cynical in a situation as this, where so many people had to die, to use this for your own hypocritical crusade. You should feel ashamed! Christianity - as every other believe system - has the potential to be used as a justification for murder. Take resposibility for that. It's been one of our team who killed those kids. We have to face it and deal with it.

Anonymous - that's a stupid comment. He wasn't "one of our team".

You can stand in a garage and call yourself a Buick, but that doesn't make you a car. The shooter calling himself a Christian didn't make him one.
