Rick Perry: Running for President May Be What "I've Been Called to Do"

Let's hope so:
Texas Gov. Rick Perry is sounding more and more like a man who intends to run for president.

“I’m not ready to tell you that I’m ready to announce that I’m in,” Perry said, according to the Des Moines Register. “But I’m getting more and more comfortable every day that this is what I’ve been called to do. This is what America needs.”

The article also reports that, "his wife, Anita, and hundreds of people nationwide say they want him to run, he said."

The wide open field and the fact that a lot of GOP money seems to be sitting on the sidelines makes it easier for a heavyweight like Perry to jump in late.
The GOP field as it stands now loses to Obama. Perry could turn that around.  And apparently Perry isn't the only one hearing the call:

I like what one letter-writer wrote to the Wall Street Journal last Friday. She wanted a candidate who wants to be president for our sake, not his own.

My sentiments exactly.
