Rick Perry Suspends Campaign

This makes me more than a little bit sad.  I thought when Perry got in the race it would be a major game changer and given his record in Texas he'd just sweep everyone else away and we wouldn't get stuck with Romney.  Sadly, Perry's performances in the early debates killed his campaign, and although he got a lot better as the campaign went on, the damage was done.

This should be a lesson for the next campaign.  Don't start doing debates until you're ready, even if it means taking some heat for skipping events in the early going.  It's better to take some criticism for not participating than to take criticism for bad performances because you just weren't ready yet.

Reports indicate that Perry will endorse Newt Gingrich, which is yet another questionable decision by Perry given the "bombshell" interview with Newt's ex that's supposed to air tonight and could effectively kill that campaign.
