Arlen Specter Pays Rick Santorum Back For His 2004 Endorsement

By stabbing him in the back:
Former Sen. Arlen Specter said Friday that he thought fellow Pennsylvanian Rick Santorum was too extreme to be president.

“Where you have Senator Santorum’s views, so far to the right, with his attitude on women in the workplace and gays and the bestiality comments and birth control, I do not think it is realistic for Rick Santorum to represent America,” Specter said on MSNBC’s “Daily Rundown.”
So Santorum has the best of all worlds - a 2004 endorsement of a liberal Republican who ended up defecting from the party, and a blast from the same guy eight years later telling the world he's too radical to be president.

If nothing else, this should be a warning to other Republicans that going along with the party line is not necessarily the best decision you can make.

Liberals always demand their payment up front, with the promise to return the favor later -which never happens. Look at Reagan's deals to cut spending with promises from Tip O'Neill to do so later -never happened. Look at the judicial nomination process where Republicans always show deference to the executive while liberals go down crying and screaming.

Liberalism isn't just a different outlook on life, it's a fundamental character flaw.
