If You're a Democrat in a Close Race, You Probably Ought to Skip the Democrat Convention

Do you really want to be seen cheering a failed president's nomination for another term?
Another Democrat facing a close re-election contest is skipping the Democratic National Convention this summer.

Pennsylvania Rep. Mark Critz will not appear at the gathering of Democrats in Charlotte, N.C., to officially re-nominate Obama for president, Shira Toeplitz of Roll Call reports.

Critz spokesman Matthew Mazonkey did not respond to a request for comment from The Daily Caller on Tuesday.

On Monday three prominent West Virginia Democrats — Sen. Joe Manchin, Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin and Rep. Nick Rahall — announced they are not attending the September convention.

Republicans argue that these Democrats are skipping the convention to distance themselves from President Barack Obama.
I think there's also a chance that the Dem convention could be a replay of Chicago '68 with all kinds of nuts showing up to protest. Who wants to have to wade through tear gas to get to the arena?

And sitting out in that half-empty stadium on a hot, humid night for Obama's acceptance speech won't be much fun either.
