On election day a wise pundit said this:

At some point in the process, maybe today or maybe tomorrow, Democrat election officials will "find" ballot boxes in the trunk of somebody's car or tucked away in a dark corner somewhere. Happens every election.

And today, from Political Wire:

"The final tallies in Connecticut's chaotic, mistake-ridden, Florida-style election remained unknown Thursday afternoon because election officials in Bridgeport still have not released their official totals yet," the Hartford Courant reports.

Without Bridgeport's results, Tom Foley (R) leads Dan Malloy (D) by 8,409 votes. However, the most recent results in Bridgeport reported by the Associated Press gave Malloy 12,646 more votes in Bridgeport than Foley -- meaning that Malloy would become the next governor.

Adding to the intrigue: CT Confidential reports "about what may be an uncounted bag of ballots discovered in Bridgeport."

It's so predictable.

Because They Cheat Vol. 13

Jim Hoft has the details from Minnesota:

Upwards of 100 residents from a local group home for mentally disadvantaged individuals were brought into the County Courthouse to cast absentee ballots. The witness reported that supervisors were telling voters to cast a straight Democrat ticket. There was even a report of a voter prematurely leaving the voting both and a supervisor casting the ballot for the voter. Essentially, the people in-charge were taking advantage of the mentally disabled in order to bolster the vote for their candidates of choice. These individuals involved can be charged with a felony under Minnesota election laws.

I guess some would argue that you have to be somewhat mentally incapacitated to vote for Democrats anyway.

Because They Cheat Vol. 12

In Illinois there are all kinds of crazy things going on, like the military ballots that didn't get sent to our deployed military.  But, if you're worried that the thugs locked up in prison might not get their ballots, worry no more (h/t Say Anything):

Meanwhile, the Chicago Board of Elections hand-delivers ballots to inmates in Cook County Jail. The board doesn’t even wait for the inmates to apply — it brings the applications with the ballots! More than 2,600 inmates have cast ballots — strikingly similar to the 2,600 soldiers who will likely not receive a ballot for Tuesday’s election.

I'll bet their being told if they vote the "right" way they could get some time knocked off their sentences.

Because They Cheat Vol. 11

From North Carolina:

A Craven County voter says he had a near miss at the polls on Thursday when an electronic voting machine completed his straight-party ticket for the opposite of what he intended.

Sam Laughinghouse of New Bern said he pushed the button to vote Republican in all races, but the voting machine screen displayed a ballot with all Democrats checked. He cleared the screen and tried again with the same result, he said. Then he asked for and received help from election staff.

“They pushed it twice and the same thing happened,” Laughinghouse said. “That was four times in a row. The fifth time they pushed it and the Republicans came up and I voted.”

M. Ray Wood, Craven County Board of elections chairman, issued a written statement saying that the elections board is aware of isolated issues and that in each case the voter was able to cast his or her ballot as desired.

Chuck Tyson, chairman of Craven County GOP, remains skeptical. He has been communicating with Wood about the issue and was invited to a meeting Wednesday with state elections officials. There were no further details about that meeting.

“Something is not right here,” Tyson told the Sun Journal. He said he “got two or three calls” from people describing the same problem while they were voting.

How come when machines "malfunction" it's always Democrats that they select?

The electronic voting equipment in Nevada is so smart it casts your ballot for you:

Some voters in Boulder City said they are concerned about fraud at the electronic ballot box.

Voter Joyce Ferrara said when they went to vote for Republican Sharron Angle, her Democratic opponent, Sen. Harry Reid’s name was already checked.

Ferrara said she wasn’t alone in her voting experience. She said her husband and several others voting at the same time all had the same thing happen.

“Something’s not right,” Ferrara said. “One person that’s a fluke. Two, that’s strange. But several within a five minute period of time — that’s wrong.”

Clark County Registrar of Voters Larry Lomax said there is no voter fraud, although the issues do come up because the screens are sensitive. For that reason, a person may not want to have their fingers linger too long on the screen after they make a selection at any time.

“Especially in a community with elderly citizens (they have) difficulty in (casting their) ballot,” Lomax said. “Team leaders said there were complaints (and the) race filled in.”

This is happening all over the country. Keep your eyes open.

Because They Cheat Vol. 9

Even during the Rick Scott/Alex Sink Florida governor's debate the Dems seek an unfair edge:

If you watched the debate, you may have noted Rick Scott accusing the Alex Sink campaign of slipping her a note against the rules. He's correct. Violating their mutual agreement against notes, Sink makeup artist came in during a commercial break and showed her a phone with a message: "The attorney on Sykes suit said Alex did nothing wrong. Tell not to let him keep talking about her."

At least she didn't ask for a teleprompter.

UPDATE:  The aide that sent the message was canned.  Needless to say, the damage to Sink's campaign is pretty severe.  Voters understand fair play and cheating isn't going to help her "sinking" campaign.

Because They Cheat Vol. 8

By "they" I'm not just referring to Democrats, but to anyone running against Republicans, including former Republicans now running as independent write-in candidates, i.e. Lisa Murkowski.  Take a look at this from Alaska:

In an unusual weekend hearing, retired Superior Court Judge Winston Burbank ruled that the public's right to know about candidates outweighed Miller's right to privacy.

"I hold that although Mr. Miller has a legitimate expectation of privacy in those documents, Mr. Miller's right to privacy is indeed outweighed by the public's significant interest in the background of a public figure who is running for the U.S. Senate," the judge said. He noted that U.S. senator is among the highest elected offices in the nation.

This invasion of privacy was requested by Lisa Murkowski, and the presiding judge was appointed to the bench by Murkowski's father.

So, if you wish to run for office as a Republican, you no longer have an expectation of privacy in ANY of your affairs, including those that have nothing to do with the job you are seeking.

Because They Cheat Vol. 7

This may not count as cheating, but it's certainly a screw-up of the first order and all brought to you by the Democrats who run New York:

A vote for Republican Carl Paladino could actually be a vote for Green Party gubernatorial candidate Howie Hawkins - if you follow the directions printed on the November ballot.

In what appears to be yet another "royal screwup," the city Board of Elections printed a sample ballot that instructs voters to fill the "oval above" a candidate's name.

The correct oval is actually below each candidate's name.

"This is a problem that should have been caught ahead of time," said Larry Norden at the Brennan Center for Justice, which sussed out the snafu. "It may be too late to fix the ballot before the Nov. 2 elections."

Without acknowledging the goof, the Board of Elections quickly issued a statement saying instructions specifying that voters "need to fill in the oval below the candidate name they wish to vote for" would be placed in the privacy booths on election day.

Also, palm cards with instructions that include a photo of a correctly marked oval will be distributed at polling sites, Board spokeswoman Valerie Vazquez-Rivera noted.

Neal Rosenstein, voting coordinator for the New York Public Interest Research Group, said the error won't have a large impact on voters because most don't even read the instructions.

"Still, in a very close election that comes down to a handful of votes, that could affect the outcome," Rosenstein said.

The infamous "butterfly ballot", created by a Florida Democrat, may have actually cost Al Gore the presidency in 2000 when some Dems accidentally voted for Pat Buchanan instead of Gore thanks to confusing ballot instructions.

There's no excuse on the part of election officials for getting this wrong...unless they did it intentionally.  Either way they should all be fired.  They've had months to prepare for this.

Because They Cheat Vol. 6

If you can't win by getting them to vote for your candidate, win by splitting the vote of your opponent:

Seeking any advantage in their effort to retain control of Congress, Democrats are working behind the scenes in a number of tight races to bolster long-shot third-party candidates who have platforms at odds with the Democratic agenda but hold the promise of siphoning Republican votes.

The efforts are taking place across the country with varying degrees of stealth. And in many cases, they seem to hold as much risk as potential reward for Democrats, prompting accusations of hypocrisy and dirty tricks from Republicans and the third-party movements that are on the receiving end of the unlikely, and sometimes unwelcome, support.

In California, Republicans have received recorded phone calls from a professed but unidentified “registered Republican” who says she is voting for the American Independent Party’s candidate for a House seat, Bill Lussenheide, not for the incumbent Republican, Mary Bono Mack.

The caller says she is voting that way because “it’s time we show Washington what a true conservative looks like.”

The recording was openly paid for by the Democratic candidate for the seat, Mayor Steve Pougnet of Palm Springs.

In Pennsylvania, the Democratic candidate for a suburban Philadelphia House seat, Bryan Lentz, admitted this week that his volunteers helped Jim Schneller — a prominent skeptic of President Obama’s citizenship — collect petitions to run against Mr. Lentz and his Republican opponent, Pat Meehan.

In Nevada, conservative radio listeners have heard an advertisement promoting the Senate campaign of a “Tea Party of Nevada” candidate, Scott Ashjian. The ads criticize Sharron Angle, the Republican nominee and favored candidate of the actual Tea Party movement in the race against Senator Harry Reid, the Democratic majority leader.

Pathetic.

Because They Cheat Vol. 5

I guess this could be considered an addendum to the earlier post from Houston on the work that True the Vote is doing down there:

True the Vote reports that at least four noncitizens have been registered to vote in Harris County. The group provided Justice with the actual voter registration forms where applicants marked “NO” to the question: “Are you a U.S. Citizen?” The group also provided the voter registration numbers of these confessed noncitizens. Yes, astonishingly, Harris County registered them to vote anyway. They are now on the rolls and able to participate in the upcoming midterm elections.

As long as they marked "Democrat" for their party registration nothing else on the page matters.

Because They Cheat Vol. 4

This story's a month old, but gives you an idea of what Republicans and other legitimate voters are up against.  Here's what's going on in Houston:

"The first thing we started to do was look at houses with more than six voters in them" Engelbrecht said, because those houses were the most likely to have fraudulent registrations attached to them. "Most voting districts had 1,800 if they were Republican and 2,400 of these houses if they were Democratic . . .

"But we came across one with 24,000, and that was where we started looking."

"Vacant lots had several voters registered on them. An eight-bed halfway house had more than 40 voters registered at its address," Engelbrecht said. "We then decided to look at who was registering the voters."

Their work paid off. Two weeks ago the Harris County voter registrar took their work and the findings of his own investigation and handed them over to both the Texas secretary of state's office and the Harris County district attorney.

Most of the findings focused on a group called Houston Votes, a voter registration group headed by Steve Caddle, who also works for the Service Employees International Union. Among the findings were that only 1,793 of the 25,000 registrations the group submitted appeared to be valid. The other registrations included one of a woman who registered six times in the same day; registrations of non-citizens; so many applications from one Houston Voters collector in one day that it was deemed to be beyond human capability; and 1,597 registrations that named the same person multiple times, often with different signatures.

Just last week there was a report of a person showing up for early voting who presented a voter ID. When told that voter ID had already voted, they simply pulled out another one. It's rampant fraud and it's being done strictly to benefit Democrats.  It's what keeps people like incompetent Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee in office.

Republican create organizations like True the Vote in Houston to root out fraud. Democrats create groups to generate fraud.

This is the district of the Democrat who called on people to boycott his own state over the Arizona Immigration Law. I'll bet there's a lot of illegal immigrants registering to vote in that district.

Because They Cheat Vol. 2

During these last two weeks before the election I may have to start a new series called "Because They Cheat". I posted the first example a couple of days ago, and as I said at that time we have to beat the Dems with as big a margin as possible because they cheat. Another entry:

Some 6,400 staffers and students at Winston-Salem State University received e-mail exhortations Monday to take advantage of early voting and help the Democratic Party, setting off local Republicans.

After a complaint by Nathan Tabor, the chairman of the Forsyth County GOP, university officials acknowledged that the e-mail — sent from the student-affairs division — was improper.

The university cited a state law that prohibits the use of a state employee’s authority or state property to support or oppose a person or an issue in any election.

“We regret it,” said Nancy Young, the director of public relations at WSSU. “We sent out a retraction and said to disregard the earlier e-mail.”

That wasn’t the end of it, though. Yesterday, the university sent out what Tabor called an “equal time” e-mail inviting all the same recipients to work for Republicans during early voting.

That message was to be retracted by the university last night once it had been out six hours — the same amount of time the Democrat message was out before being retracted.

Tabor said he’s upset that he had to call the university and complain.

“That is a tax-funded school,” Tabor said, calling the original e-mail “highly illegal and unethical.”

The university said it would try to discover who sent out the e-mail and whether it was sent intentionally or accidentally in a partisan form.

It doesn't take Sherlock Holmes to investigate and find out this was a partisan effort, intentionally sent out to promote Democrats. It could be that panic is now really setting in as early voting numbers in many areas show the GOP with significant turnout.

This is Why We've Got to Beat Them With Big Margins

Because they cheat:

Stepaniak said church vans were volunteered to drive students to vote.

The suit alleges three van loads of Hughes High students arrived at the Downtown Board of Elections offices at 1 p.m. Wednesday, supervised by a school employee. School lets out at 3:15 p.m.

When they got out of the vans, the students, the suit alleges, also were accompanied by adults who appeared to be campaign workers or supporters for U.S. Rep. Steve Driehaus, D-West Price Hill, the congressman being challenged this fall by Steve Chabot. When the students got out of the vans, the suit alleges they were given sample ballots containing only Democratic candidates.

“We want these kids to vote,” Finney said. “I’m not sure them being bussed during the school day is a good thing, but that’s not the thrust of the suit.

“If they had fair sample ballots or no sample ballots it would be different.”

Driehaus will likely lose unless they can gin up enough vote fraud to overcome Chabot's lead.

Oh, and after voting like good Democrats the kids were given ice cream. I think that's basically the same thing they give the winos when they pick them up off the street and drive them to the polls.
