I've been a critic of Minnesota Senator Mark Dayton (see this post and this one), and have speculated that the Senator would not be able to win reelection in 2006. Yesterday Sen. Dayton took himself out of the running for 2006, thus doing the Dems a big favor. No way was he going to win, which means they can now pick a stronger candidate.
Wait a minute - a new candidate is emerging! Al Franken! That's right, the failed comedian turned failed liberal broadcaster is expected to announce his candidacy for the MN Senate seat. Will this mean the end of his poorly listened to radio show? We can only hope.
