Flight 93 Memorial to be Changed

I just finished watching "The Flight That Fought Back", the story of United Flight 93. It was very well done and a fitting memorial to the people who perished in the process of stopping the hijackers before they could complete their mission. After viewing this movie, you can't help but be incensed at the decision of the Flight 93 memorial designers' decision to create an Islamic-looking red crescent design for the memorial.

Well, it looks like public outrage at the stupidity of this design is paying off. The architect is going to change it (h/t Little Green Footballs):
The architect of the memorial to a plane downed in western Pennsylvania on Sept. 11, 2001, said Wednesday he would work to satisfy critics who complained that it honors terrorists with its crescent-shaped design.

Designer Paul Murdoch said he is “somewhat optimistic” that the spirit of the design could be maintained.

“It’s a disappointment there is a misinterpretation and a simplistic distortion of this
(He just called us all stupid-HC) , but if that is a public concern, then that is something we will look to resolve in a way that keeps the essential qualities,” Murdoch, 48, of Los Angeles, said in a telephone interview.
Let's see what this genius comes up with next.
