Meanwhile, here are a few things the Dems missed:"The aggressive Democratic response to this week's foiled terrorist plot reflects a widely shared view among party strategists that intensified attacks against President Bush represent the best chance to offset what historically has been a clear Republican advantage whenever national security issues become more prominent," the Washington Post reports.
The Los Angeles Times: "Democrats have seized on the latest alleged terrorism plot in hopes of turning the political tables on the White House... Leading Democrats blamed the terrorism threat on 'mismanagement' by the Bush administration and charged that the Iraq war had become a 'rallying cry' for the enemy."
- The latest airline plot was thwarted by the efforts of the Brits and the U.S.
- The last successful terrorist attack on American soil occurred on 9/11/2001.
- Dem Sen. Harry Reid boasted about "killing the Patriot Act", legislation which has given law enforcement and intelligence agencies the tools to go after these terrorist organizations.
- Dem Sen. Russ Feingold tried to censure President Bush over the Terrorist Surveillance Program, which according to recent news reports was helpful in stopping this latest terror attack.
- Dem Sen. Dick Durbin compared our own military prison in Gitmo to Russian gulags and Nazi concentration camps. If it was up to Durbin, those folks at Gitmo would either be running free, or would be clogging up our civil court system.
And the list goes on. In other countries, people who actively work against the best interests of their nation, and who willing put their citizens at risk, are stood up against a wall and shot. In this country, we elect them to Congress.
I hope the President challenges the Dems to show us, once and for all, how their actions have made the country safer. Either that or shut up.
