Lieberman Losing, McKinney Skunked

Early returns are starting to come in from Connecticut and Georgia. Joe Lieberman is trailing in early results, and Cynthia McKinney is going down hard,. The night is still young, and I'll update this post as more information comes in.

UPDATE 11:25 EDT:
Connecticut Dem Senate - Lamont 52% - Lieberman 48%
**LAMONT DECLARED WINNER - LIEBERMAN WILL ANNOUNCE INDEPENDENT RUN TOMORROW ** (I'm sure it was my endorsement that put him over the top.)
More thoughts on Joe Lieberman here.

Georgia 4th District - Johnson 59% - McKinney 41%

(My &%%$* DSL went down for 30 minutes - hopefully it will stay up the rest of the night.)

I think we can pretty much start writing the obit for McKinney right now. She clearly brought this whole thing on herself, not only with her increasingly bizarre behavior, but also with her complete disregard for her own district. She took her district's voters for granted, barely campaigning at all during the primary and refusing to appear at any of the candidate debates. She counted on her name recognition to put her over the magic 50% mark in the primary, and when it didn't, she was toast. All the campaigning she did in the last few weeks didn't help.

I saw her in video from a radio interview she was doing, and I have to tell you, anyone who saw that tape thought she was completely crazy. She had a wild-eyed stare, and was going on about how she was going to cosponsor every piece of impeachment legislation that might come down in the next Congress. She also offered to write her own legislation to impeach Bush.

By the way, in true McKinney campaign fashion, a staffer roughed up a TV photographer on election day. Very true to character.
