Some folks (especially Dems) are suggesting that Republican Louisiana Senator David Vitter should resign after his...er, hand...was caught in the DC Madam's cookie jar. Should he resign? Absolutely not. After all, if Ted Kennedy can kill a campaign aide and keep his job, and Robert Byrd can have a past as a KKK Grand Wizard and keep his job, Vitter's shenanigans are hardly worth a resignation, especially if it will give a Dem governor the opportunity to replace him.
If adultery was enough to require a resignation from Congress, there would probably be more open seats in both houses than occupied seats.
