Joe Lieberman to Endorse John McCain

It's been a good weekend for John McCain. First he got the endorsements of two rather liberal newspapers, and now 2000 Democrat Vice Presidential nominee turned independent Joe Lieberman is set to endorse him:

THE WEEKLY STANDARD has learned that Sen. Joe Lieberman, the 2000 Democratic vice-presidential nominee, will endorse Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) for president tomorrow. The two will appear together at a press conference Monday morning in New Hampshire, weather permitting.

Very interesting. I couldn't imagine Lieberman endorsing any other Republican, and it's fascinating that he couldn't bring himself to choose one of the Democrats, all of whom have held opposite views on the war to Lieberman's, but who more closely agree with him on other issues.

It's the ultimate revenge against the Dem party which abandoned Lieberman in 2006.
