Bills? We Don't Pay No Stinking Bills!

You may remember a short time ago I had a piece on a Long Beach Dem congresswoman Laura Richardson who has a bad habit of defaulting on her house payments. It turns out it isn't only housing where she feels the need to stick it to her providers:
Car trouble takes on a new meaning when it comes to financially distressed Congresswoman Laura Richardson.

In 2005, when she was still on the Long Beach City Council, she left one mechanic in a lurch with an unpaid bill, then later had her badly damaged BMW towed to an auto body shop but didn’t pay for any work and abandoned the car there, owners of the businesses said this week.

The next day, Richardson began using a city-owned vehicle - putting almost 31,000 miles on it in about a year - and continued driving the car five days after she had left the council to serve in the state Assembly, city records show.

And, while she's voting to raise taxes on the rest of us, she isn't paying hers:
In June 2007, the city’s utility department placed a lien on her property for $154 in unpaid bills, according to documents on file at the Sacramento County Recorder’s Office. In December, Richardson received a default notice from the collection agency of Washington Mutual Inc., her lender. At that point, she owed $18,356. …Records on file at the Sacramento County Tax Collector’s Office also show Richardson is delinquent in paying $8,950 in property taxes.

Can we skip out on our bills? YES WE CAN!
