Last Year's Winner Was a Sarah Palin Impersonator. This Year's Winner is a George W. Bush Impersonator

What am I talking about?  The Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.  Last year it went to Tina Fey for no reason I could figure other than her impersonation of Sarah Palin.  This year's award goes to Will Ferrell who made a big hit on SNL impersonating George W. Bush and giving us the word "strategery".   Is it just me or has the criteria for this award really slipped?  Take a look at the past winners before Fey:

  • 1998 – Richard Pryor

  • 1999 – Jonathan Winters

  • 2000 – Carl Reiner

  • 2001 – Whoopi Goldberg

  • 2002 – Bob Newhart

  • 2003 – Lily Tomlin

  • 2004 – Lorne Michaels

  • 2005 – Steve Martin

  • 2006 – Neil Simon

  • 2007 – Billy Crystal

  • 2008 – George Carlin

  • 2009 – Bill Cosby

  • Not in the same league at all.
