NBC News has fired a producer who was involved in the production of a misleading segment about the Trayvon Martin case in Florida.Yes, a debate fueled by misleading media reports, such as this NBC story, the ABC story that said Zimmerman didn't show any signs of injury that night (since corrected), and the story that Zimmerman used a racial epithet during his 911 call (also since corrected).
The person was fired on Thursday, according to two people with direct knowledge of the disciplinary action who declined to be identified discussing internal company matters. They also declined to name the fired producer. A spokeswoman for NBC News declined to comment.
The action came in the wake of an internal investigation by NBC News into the production of the segment, which strung together audio clips in such a way that made George Zimmerman’s shooting of Mr. Martin sound racially motivated. Ever since the Feb. 26 shooting, there has been a continuing debate about whether race was a factor in the incident.
This NBC editing mess was not just an innocent error, it was an attempt to make the facts fit the already established narrative, and it blew up in NBC's face.

People are entitled to a public trial, and when the media turns into a borderline lynch mob and take it upon themselves to conduct the trial, then I think the rest of us have the right to know exactly who they are.
The same media organization which put its name to a fabricated story is now telling us to take its word that they meted out justice on one of their own. Trust us, they say.
If they don't come forward with the name(s), then the alleged firing didn't happen.
And it was overdue.
And as Larry says, we have no reason to trust NBC, or what they tell us.
