"Nobody wants to keep them here."I'll bet that's the truth.
A boat carrying international peace activists, including former Georgia congresswoman Cynthia McKinney, and medical supplies to the embattled Gaza Strip sailed back into a Lebanese port on Tuesday after being turned back and damaged by the Israeli navy, organizers of the trip said.
The crowds on the docks in the Lebanese port city of Tyre were jubilant and cheering as they welcomed the vessel.
The boat, which set off from Cyprus Monday wanted to make a statement and deliver medical supplies to embattled Gaza. The trip’s organizers said the boat was clearly in international waters, 90 miles off the coast of Gaza, at the time of its close encounter with the Israeli navy.
“Our boat was rammed three times, twice in the front and one on the side,” McKinney told CNN Tuesday morning. “Our mission was a peaceful mission. Our mission was thwarted by the aggressiveness of the Israeli military.”
The Free Gaza movement is sending another solidarity ship to the Strip, due this time to the major Israeli attacks. The four previous voyages have set sail in solidarity to the million and a half residents under siege. If the Israeli Navy can't sink 'em, maybe the U.S. Navy can lob a missile or two in there.
The bombings that began on Saturday at 11:30 am have rendered this voyage an even more pressing emergency. The boat has set sail as of early Monday evening.
Organizers say they will conduct as many trips as possible over the next few weeks as the medical and humanitarian situation will be dire whether or not the Israeli bombing stops. ...
On board the ship expected to set sail on Monday are four physicians. Among them is Dr. Elena Theoharous, a surgeon and member of Cypriot parliament. Former United States Congresswoman and Green Party candidate Cynthia McKinney will also be making the voyage. And local hero, Al Jazeera correspondent formerly imprisoned in Guantanamo, Sami Al Hajj, is also expected.
(CNN) -- The liberal environmentalist Green Party nominated former Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney as its presidential candidate Saturday.
McKinney, 53, held off three rivals to win the party's nomination during its convention in Chicago, Illinois. She picked journalist and activist Rosa Clemente as her running mate.
Green Party spokeswoman Scott McLarty acknowledged McKinney was a "long shot" for the White House, but said, "Every vote that she gets helps the Green Party."
"The United States needs an alternative party," McLarty said. "The narrow two-party system we have right now has not served us very well."
During a press conference Rep. McKinney had especially harsh comments for the Bush Administration:
"This ban on hair gel products is yet another attempt by the Bush and Cheney Administration to keep me down and prevent me from helpin' my peeps here in Georgia. I was planning to fly back to Washington today to finish representin' the Uncle Toms and Jews who threw my sorry butt out of Congress, but there's no way I'm goin' without my gel! The dry air in first class just makes my 'do EXPLODE, and I can't be seen at MoveOn.org and Code Pink events looking like this.
Only an f***ing hairless cracker like Michael Cherthoff could come up with a stupid rule like this, just because some Pakistani brothers in England wanted to play Mr. Wizard with household products on international airliners.
Me and my New Black Panther Party security guards will not be bowed; we will not be broken. WE SHALL OVER-MOUSSE!"
(Hey, it could happen...you knew I couldn't resist another McKinney post.)
Capitol Hill police are expected to seek an arrest warrant next week for Rep. Cynthia McKinney of Georgia, who was involved in a physical confrontation with a Capitol police officer Wednesday, police and legal authorities said Thursday.McKinney has a long history of condescension and outright bigotry toward those people she outranks, especially if they're white. The woman's a stone-cold racist, and up until now has gotten away with her abhorent behavior. It's about time she was held to account for her actions.
Officially, the investigation of the incident, in which the DeKalb County Democrat allegedly struck a police officer who tried to stop her from going around a security checkpoint, is ongoing, said Sgt. Kimberly Schneider, spokeswoman for Capitol Hill police.
However, police have notified the federal prosecutor's office in Washington that they will be seeking an arrest warrant after the investigation is complete next week, said police and legal authorities, who spoke on the condition that they not be named because the investigation was not yet complete.
