Kind of a lazy day today. The kids wanted to go back down to the Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World (see Day 2) and pick up some fishing stuff. The boy got a multi-tool device that will do everything but tune up your car, and the girl just looked at the clothing and stuff. She decided that camouflage was not her color (though they had it in a variety of colors and styles).
We spent some time touring the Bricktown area, which is really quite a nice entertainment and dining part of town. Included in the area is a large theater complex where we saw Harry Potter the other night, the baseball stadium where the Oklahoma City Redhawks play, and the Ford Center which the former New Orleans Hornets now call home. The Oklahoma City fans have really taken the Hornets to heart and are selling out every game. It might be tough to get them to go back to New Orleans.
We found out how loyal the fans are when we left the theater Wednesday night. We got out just as the Hornet game let out, and what a traffic mess. It probably took us 45 minutes to get out of the theater parking lot.
They've also built a canal through the Bricktown area, and during the summer have canal boat rides. They're also running the boats on weekend nights during the Christmas season so folks can see the lights. Here's a shot of the canal with the ballpark on the right.
And another shot of the canal running through some of the shops and restaurants.
Lunch was as the Spaghetti Warehouse, and we at some great Italian food in an old trolley car in the restaurant.
Every ballpark needs a multi-colored buffalo statue out front. I'm going to see if the Angels will get one.
The rest of the day was spent shopping and hanging out with the Oklahoma family. Tomorrow we'll attend church at Bethany First Nazarene, have lunch with the family, and then head to the airport for a 4:45 pm flight home. There likely won't be any blogging on Sunday as we're traveling around.
See you back in California!
