The Audacity of Dopes

Wanna know who's dumb enough to challenge the Israeli Defense Force and try and run the naval blockage of Gaza?  These people.  They're the passengers on a poorly named vessel "Audacity of Hope".  Gee, I wonder where that name came from?

It's a collection of American morons who are apparently hoping to follow in the footsteps of Rachel Corrie.  Remember her?  Here's a photo:
She was the Southern California woman who went to the Gaza Strip, and while taking a break from burning American flags and chanting anti-Israeli and anti-American slogans, decided to try and stop an IDF bulldozer that had been sent to destroy the home of a suicide bomber.  Corrie got herself tenderized when the bulldozer refused to stop for her moral superiority.

Given that the head of Code Pink is one of the Audacity of Dopes, perhaps a well placed torpedo or anti-ship missile could remove that inflamed boil from the butt of Mother Earth.

UPDATE:  The dopes may not be sailing after all:
Six ships which were slated to take part in the Gaza-bound flotilla are being detained by the Greek port authorities, Ynet learned Sunday night.

Senior officials in Jerusalem have confirmed the report, which followed a Sunday decision by Greece to stop the US vessel "Audacity of Hope" from participating in the sea-bound convoy.

While the organizers of the maritime convoy claim that more than 1,500 activists are set to take part in the initiative, it now appears that no more than seven ships, carrying 200-500 passengers, will participate in the flotilla.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated Sunday that Israel will not allow any ships to breach its blockade of the Gaza Strip.

The Collapse of the Middle East

James Simpson at American Thinker has a thought-provoking and frankly scary piece:
If Egypt should fall, it will mark the beginning of the end for what little remaining stability there is in the Middle East.  Jordan is facing similar unrest, as are Algeria and Yemen.  Lebanon and Tunisia fell in January.  It is highly unlikely that these events are unrelated.  A combination of leftist and Islamist forces provoked the protests, and we are likely looking at a ring of radical Islamic states rising up to surround Israel.  Once their power is solidified, perhaps in a year or two, they will combine forces to attack Israel.  If Israel falls, the United States will stand alone in a sea of virulent enemies and impotent allies.

So whom does Obama support, Mubarak or his enemies?

Obama wasted no time in telling us.  He supports Mubarak's opponents, and he probably has been all along.  The Los Angeles Times reported on Sunday that the Obama administration favors a rolefor the Muslim Brotherhood in a new Egyptian government.

The Muslim Brotherhood, the oldest extremist Muslim organization, is behind practically every Muslim terrorist organization ever formed.  And while they may have publicly renounced violence as the LA Times article claims, internal documents tell a completely different story.

And if that weren't bad enough, Obama's latest comment to Egypt's leader is that "an orderly transition ... must begin now."

Must begin.  Now.

Simply stunning.

Juxtapose Obama's statements toward our allies with his reaction to the genuine uprising that occurred last year in Iran.  Tunisia: "Reform or be overthrown."  Egypt: "an orderly transition ... must begin now."  Iran: "It is not productive ... to be seen as meddling."  Meanwhile, candidate Obama claimed that the terrorist groups Hamas and Hezb'allah have "legitimate claims," and we all remember his mindless counterterrorism czar, John Brennan, reaching out to "moderate" Hezb'allah members last spring.  Hezb'allah moderates?

The seeming inconsistency is astonishing.  Unfortunately, there is a consistency.  Obama uniformly sides with our enemies but rarely, if ever, with our friends and allies.  His administration is packed with far-left radicals and vicious anti-Semites.  And therein lies the rub, because what we are witnessing in reality is this president's un-American, anti-American, treasonous ideology in full play.

Perhaps this is the real reason for Bill Ayers's, Bernardine Dohrn's, Code Pink's Medea Benjamin's and Jody Evans's trips to Egypt in 2009.  Following those trips, these same people made multiple visits to the White House.

Obama's breathlessly arrogant answer?  Not the same Ayers, Dohrn, Benjamin, and Evans.  Sure.
Read it all.

As scary as this is, it does remind me of a quartet song written by a friend of mine, the late Roger Bennett of The Cathedral Quartet: I've Read the Back of the Book and We Win (video at the link).  Perhaps my belief doesn't make this story as scary as it might be to others because I don't think Israel can ever be defeated by any forces in this world, no matter how many nutty Muslims surround their land.

Certainly the Middle East will become significantly more unstable if government after government falls and is replaced by radical Muslims.   And could all this be paving the way toward the Biblical end of days?  I'll have to leave that to the religious scholars who study that stuff.

Anti-War Movement is Dying Away

It was on a Sunday morning in August of 2005 that I wrote my first piece involving Cindy Sheehan.  I had never heard of her before that day, and I was shocked to see that the lead story on AOL News that morning was about some crazy woman who had decided to set up camp in the ditch across from President George Bush's Crawford Ranch to protest the war.  Thanks to the general boredom experienced by the press corps stuck in Crawford and the fact there wasn't much other news going on in the world (this was before Katrina arrived), Sheehan got way more attention than she deserved and became a cause celebre for the left.

Now the anti-war movement is dying.  Why?  Because the people that supported them were not so much anti-war as they were anti-Bush:
“A lot of the people who were part of this movement have retreated,” Code Pink’s Benjamin said. “They wanted to give up on the timetable [for withdrawing from Iraq]. Some are still reluctant to criticize a Democratic president now with the midterms coming up.”

The staggering economy has hit the movement hard: Just a few years ago, some groups raised millions of dollars in donations and mobilized legions of supporters to rallies in Washington, D.C., and New York; now, United for Peace and Justice – which had a full-time, paid staff and a budget of over $1 million – relies on volunteers working without a headquarters and with less than $100,000 to spend.

“That says a lot about where our masses are when it comes to getting out against the wars,” said Michael McPherson, the co-convener of United for Peace and Justice. “If people are deciding between trying to figure out if you’re going to have a job and ending the war in Afghanistan…trying to figure out how to keep your job is going to win every time.”

But Sheehan, whose son died in Iraq and who kept vigil outside Bush’s Crawford ranch to protest the war, had long abandoned hope that the activists would fight as hard once Obama was elected. Groups like MoveOn.org, in particular, are more interested in politics than in peace, she said.

“I basically think that it’s over,” Sheehan said. “And the reason that it’s over is that so many of those same groups that you’re talking about supported Obama…I just don’t think that if you’re anti-war you can support somebody who is for war.”
It's no surprise to most of us that once Obama was elected it probably wouldn't matter what he did in regards to the war, the anti-war crowd was going to melt away. Their commitment to liberal politics far outweighs their commitment to stopping war.

Code Pinkos Get a Taste of Their Own Medicine

Last night Code Pinko and Commie lover Jodie Evans held a fundraiser at her home for Jerry "Moonbeam" Brown.  In case you missed it yesterday, here's a photo of Evans (on the left) as she tried to disrupt Sarah Palin's Republican Convention speech in 2008:
Former radio host Melanie Morgan decided to give Evans a sample of her own medicine by holding a protest in front of her house and employing some of Code Pinko's own tactics against them. Big Peace has the details as well as some photos:
Melanie Morgan, founder of Move America Forward, the nation’s largest pro-troop organization, led about a dozen conservative activists who protested at the Venice home of Code Pink co-founder Jodie Evans at a Saturday afternoon fundraiser for California Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jerry Brown.

Morgan reports the pro-American protesters, “blocked the entrance of hundreds of wealthy Democrat liberals, including Sally Kellerman and Cindy Asner, ex-wife of Ed Asner.” Protesters laid down on the sidewalk outside the entrance gate where guests had to step over them.

Event host Jodie Evans was visibly angry at getting a taste of her own medicine and had several confrontations, including one in which she denied, against the evidence, that she supports the terrorist organization Hamas. Several guests were none-too-pleased with being protested, while some had no idea they were attending an event associated with Code Pink.

Jerry Brown sneaked into the house from the back door while Melanie Morgan threw her body onto the sidewalk shouting, “Code Pink supports terrorists!” When not laying on the sidewalk, Morgan stood outside the back gate, “yelling through a screen at [Evans] while she sipped her white wine as Brown’s security guard watched from inside his SUV with the engine running for two hours.” Though the Dodge Durango burned needless fossil fuels, presumably waiting for Brown’s departure, he left in yet another vehicle.

Police were called and arrived in a squad car about an hour into the event. However, the trio of law enforcement officers found no reason to make any arrests.
Read the rest of it at the link. While I'm not a big fan of protests, I think it's great to give the left a sample of their own tactics and make things as uncomfortable for them as they regularly attempt to do to conservatives.

Jerry "Moonbeam" Brown's Girlfriend

Tonight Jerry Brown will have having a fundraiser at the home of the lady on the left:

And I mean waaaaaaaaayyyy on the left. That's Jodie Evans as she was attempting to disrupt Sarah Palin's Republican National Convention speech in 2008. The Code Pinkos were let in by some media people who thought it would make for an interesting and newsworthy moment.

These are the people that will have tremendous influence in California politics if Jerry "Moonbeam" Brown is elected governor in November.   We can't let that happen.

And if you think Code Pink is an honorable organization, read this:  Code Pink Tells Gold Star Mom: Your Son Deserved to Die.

Does Jerry Brown Know He's Consorting With the Enemy?

Jerry Brown is having a fundraiser at the home of Jodie Evans, one of the Code Pinko nutcases who tried to interrupt Sarah Palin's Republican Convention speech.  She's also got a long list of contacts with America's enemies.  Big Government has a lengthy piece on Evans that's worth reading.

Feel Good Video of the Day

From the gathering of progressive loons in Washington:
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's (D-Calif.) remarks to a gathering of progressive activists at the America's Future Now conference on Tuesday were greeted by screaming protesters, forcing Pelosi to literally yell parts of her speech.
There's shaky video at the link.

UPDATE:  A second report:
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is heckled by Code Pink at an event in Washington, D.C.

"We supported Obama, we supported you, now 21 states are begging for money to help us save the community," a woman screamed at Pelosi.

"You have made your point," Pelosi said in an attempt to quiet the protesters.

An aide informed her that they are "throwing stuff."

Sedition!

Uh, no, but if it gives the left some jollies to think so, what's the harm (from Newsbusters):
Liberals are all too often eager to charge conservative personalities of using hyperbole to gain a political advantage, especially when it contradicts their world view - whether it's suggesting the Obama administration is taking the country down the path of socialism, fascism or any other -ism.

However, it could be argued there's a different set of standards for those same people when they want to make strong charges. On NBC's April 18 "The Chris Matthews Show," Time columnist Joe Klein all but accused former GOP vice-presidential nominee and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, along with Fox News host Glenn Beck of sedition.

"I did a little bit of research just before this show - it's on this little napkin here. I looked up the definition of sedition which is conduct or language inciting rebellion against the authority of the state. And a lot of these statements, especially the ones coming from people like Glenn Beck and to a certain extent Sarah Palin, rub right up close to being seditious."

As Klein pointed out, the legal definition of sedition is "a revolt or an incitement to revolt against established authority." And, sedition has been declared a felony in Supreme Court opinions, thus making Klein's national television accusation a fairly serious one, one of which New York magazine's John Heilemann agreed with. However, Heilemann added conservative talker Rush Limbaugh to that list.

"And Joe's right and I'll name another person, I'll name Rush Limbaugh who uses this phrase constantly and talks about the Obama administration as a regime," Heilemann said. "That phrase which has connotations of tyranny. And what's so interesting about it to me, to get to Norah's point - what is the focus, what is the cause of this? You think back to 1994, there was Ruby Ridge. There was Waco. There were triggering incidents. There's been nothing like that. The only thing that's changed in the last 15 months is the election of Barack Obama. And as far as I can see, in terms of the policies that Obama has implemented, there's nothing."

Heilemann also suggested that the alleged up tick in militia activity is a result of the Obama presidency. Klein said it was not only the Obama presidency, but that he was "African-American," and had "Hussein" as a middle name, along with the "scary" economic crisis.

"Two are two things going on here and one thing is certainly that," Klein said. "One thing is he is African-American, but that his name is Barack Hussein Obama. The other we've had a very scary economic crisis. And when people get scared, they get defensive and they get a little crazy."
Funny thing is, when Hollywood was making movies or writing books talking about assassinating George Bush I don't remember Joe Klein or anyone on the left crying "Sedition!". When Code Pink and other lefties were calling for the end of the "Bush Regime", again, no calls of "Sedition!".

Sometimes the left is like a running comedy gig.

I've often heard Rush Limbaugh refer to the Obama Administration as a "regime", and I also know why he does it. For one thing, it drives the lefties nuts and draws out reactions like the ones above, and secondly Obama and the Democrats have been acting like a regime. In every humor bit there must be some truth and Rush has found it in this bit.

Code Pinko Wannabe

Dumb way to spend a day:
A 12-year-old girl has been arrested for trespassing after she allegedly refused to leave U.S. Sen. Tom Harkin's office in Des Moines while protesting the war in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Frankie Hughes was arrested late Wednesday. Her mother, Renee Espeland, who was standing outside the Iowa Democrat's office, was ticketed for contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Next thing you know she'll be trying to arrest Karl Rove.

The Immaturity of Code Pink Continues

Here's a photo of a major donor to Obama and the Dem party greeting him in September, 2009:
And here's the same major Obama donor one year almost to the day earlier as she attempted to interrupt Sarah Palin's Republican National Convention speech in 2008.
Who is this red-headed piece of human debris? Jodie Evans, co-founder of Code Pink, who is still acting as immature as ever (from Big Government):
Top Obama funder, terrorist supporter and Code Pink co-founder Jodie Evans assaulted former President George W. Bush adviser Karl Rove Monday evening at a Beverly Hills appearance by Rove to promote his new book, “Courage and Consequence: My Life As a Conservative in the Fight.”

Jodie Evans approached Rove while he was speaking to an audience at the Saban Theater and announced she was making a “citizen’s arrest” as she attempted to place metal handcuffs on him.

Video by KCAL-TV shows Rove pushing Jodie Evans away as she tries to cuff him. The audio picks up Rove saying to Jodie Evans, “No, no, no I didn’t say go ahead. I looked at…You get away!

Two men intervened and pulled Jodie Evans away from Rove.

Jodie Evans can be heard yelling at Rove, “Look what you did! You outed a CIA officer! You lied to take us to war! You ruined a country! Totally ruined a country!”
I'll believe she seriously cares about the ruination of this country when she starts screaming at Obama.

Poor Babies

Democrats are feeling threatened these days:
House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer is warning that some of his Democratic colleagues are being threatened with violence when they go back to their districts — and he wants Republicans to stand up and condemn the threats.

The Maryland Democrat said more than 10 House Democrats have reported incidents of threats or other forms of harassment about their support of the highly divisive health insurance overhaul vote. Hoyer emphasized that he didn’t have a specific number of threats and that was just an estimate.
His information is probably as good as the information about the "n" word name calling that was reported on Sunday and never happened.

Of course, this is only news when it happens to Democrats. Republicans have had to deal with this stuff for years:
A Republican aide also pointed out that over the years Republican members of Congress received their fair share of death threats during volatile times. Newt Gingrich after the 1994 Republican revolution and the late Henry Hyde during the Clinton impeachment in 1998 both received numerous death threats. And just last month, Sen. Jim Bunning (R-Ky.) received death threats after his filibuster of unemployment benefits, according to a report in Roll Call.
And why don't you go ask guys like Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity how many death threats they get...daily.

Hoyer claims he wants a civil society...at least when Democrats are speaking, but I don't remember him speaking out against Code Pink when they interrupted congressional hearings or tried to disrupt Sarah Palin's 2008 GOP convention speech.

While I don't condone violent responses, I'm not surprised by them at all and I expect the tempo will pick up a bit as House Dems return to their districts for the Spring break. As I've said before you can't betray a significant majority of your constituents and expect civility in return.

Code Pinkos Planning Orange County Protest

Want some cheap entertainment? Head down to the circle in Orange this afternoon for some loony watching:
Code Pink will be protesting our wars tomorrow, Wednesday, February 17, from 5:30pm – 7:00pm, at the Orange Circle, at Chapman and Glassell. There is ample free parking, but leave early to avoid traffic.
Yes, there will be traffic given the protest takes place during the evening rush hour, but I'll be shocked if they can come up with more than 100-200 for this protest. Antiwar protests are pretty much out of vogue these days, and Code Pink has become a parody of a protest organization, often populated by old women with nothing else to do. Wearing pink and shouting tired slogans makes them feel like they're doing something important.

They're not.

It's the Drones, Stupid

I thought Al Qaeda hates us because of Gitmo:
Al-Qaeda said the suicide bombing of a CIA base in Afghanistan that killed seven agents last week was "revenge" for the deaths of top militants in US drone strikes in Pakistan, the US monitoring group SITE said on Thursday.
You mean if we close Gitmo they'll still hate us? How can that be? Obama assured us the world's terrorists would suddenly like us if we just closed Gitmo.

And Al Qaeda isn't the only group that's upset about the drones. Zombie has a report on the Code Pinkos in the Gay Bay Area who are also conducting their own little jihad against the drones.

A Code Pink Christmas

Hey President Obama, they're all your problem now:

It took them quite awhile to give up the rainbows and unicorns, but they finally caught on.

Code Pinkos Scare Obama...in San Francisco of all Places

It must be getting pretty weird around the White House when they have to start hiding from the liberal special interest groups that helped them get elected:
The White House’s fear of protests from Code Pink and other left-wingers has put the brakes on President Obama making any public appearances during his visit to San Francisco this week.

Obama is scheduled to parachute into Liberalville on Thursday afternoon and pick up a cool $2 million for the Democratic Party at a fundraiser at the St. Francis Hotel – then spend the night, before checking out early the next morning and heading to Houston for a community service forum hosted by former President George H.W. Bush.

The St. Francis event is about all the public will see of him here. Concerns about big and loud protests over the war in Afghanistan, the prohibition on open gays and lesbians in the military and other issues have squelched any thought of a trip to a local school or high-tech manufacturing plant that often accompanies such visits, said a source involved in the planning.

“You’re always sensitive about having your San Francisco moment here,” said former White House spinmeister Chris Lehane.

He still recalls a news conference he organized here in 2000 for then-presidential candidate Al Gore. It turned into a near-disaster when a “transvestite kept asking if he would support public funding for sex changes.”

“No matter how you answered, you get in trouble,” Lehane said.
The sight of Code Pinkos protesting Obama would be one for the memory books.

They've Thrown Out the Ceremonial First Protester

Just like the ceremonial first pitch at a baseball game, the Senate Judiciary Committee has thrown out the first protester. These tweets just in from the Sotomayor opening ceremonies:
Protestor yells: "What about the unborn?! ...Stop genocide of unborn Latinos!"

An abortion protester was removed from the Sotomayor's hearing after a sudden outburst. Live video:
http://news.bnonews.com/xh2m
I wonder how the Democrats are enjoying their "Code Pink" moment?

Of course, these shouted protests at congressional hearings don't persuade anybody, but they make for some lively theater. Given the number of times Code Pinkos have shouted at Republicans or military personnel, I think it's only right that the Dems get to enjoy some of the same uplifting moments during their gal's moment in the spotlight.

The Puke Ray

It would be fun to have one of these at a Code Pink rally:
A US industrial laser company says it has developed a functional puke-ray system, ideal for use by cops or military personnel wishing to take down their opponents without shooting them. The firm proposes to issue the "non lethal light fighting technology" in two form factors - light-sabre/torch and blaster-pistol.

The so-called Dazer Laser™ technology comes from Laser Energetics Inc, of New Jersey, which has been supplying more conventional laser equipment since 1991. Now, however, the company is pleased to announce its new Defender™ and Guardian™ chunder-beam weapons.

According to Laser Energetics' statement:

These non-lethal weapons have the ability to control the threat at ranges of 1 meter to 2400 meters (model dependent). The Dazer Laser™ - Light Fighting Technologies - emit a green “eye safe” laser beam, that is shaped into approximately a 1 foot to 8 foot Dazer Zone™ (model dependent) which when focused on the threats eyes, the threats vision is temporarily impaired, their balance is effected, and they become affected by nausea. This controls the threat making it difficult for them to manoeuver. The Ultimate Non – Lethal Weapon.
Pink and puke - a beautiful combination.

"Religion of Peace" Convert Arrested in Recruiting Office Shooting

He must have skipped the "peace" part during his conversion:

A Muslim convert who said he was opposed to the U.S. military shot two soldiers outside an Arkansas recruiting station, killing one of the soldiers, police said Monday.

"This individual appears to have been upset with the military, the Army in particular, and that's why he did what he did," Little Rock Police Lt. Terry Hastings said in a phone interview.

"He has converted to Muslim here in the past few years," Hastings said. "To be honest we're not completely clear on what he was upset about. He had never been in the military."

Hastings identified the man in custody as Carlos Bledsoe, 24, of Little Rock, who was going by the name of Abdul Hakim Mujahid Muhammad. He did not have further details. The names of the soldiers were not released, nor was the condition of the wounded soldier.

Code Pink has spent years trying to shut down military recruiting centers, such as the one in Berkeley. We're now waiting for Code Pink to condemn this shooting in the same manner every reputable pro-life organization condemned the shooting of the abortion doctor on Sunday.

Obama Moves Right on Defense, Code Pinkos Hardest Hit

Republicans have finally found something in Obama they can praise, and lo and behold, it's defense and war-on-terror issues. That has the lefty groups like Code Pink seething:
Even as congressional Democrats feuded last week with the CIA in what at times seemed to be a throwback to the 1970s, President Obama was headed in the other direction in what may have been his most active week yet as commander in chief.

He pushed through the House a spending bill to finance the war in Afghanistan and reversed himself, deciding to fight the release of photos purportedly showing humiliating treatment of detainees in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Mr. Obama also announced he would have some detainees at the U.S. Naval Base Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, tried by military commissions, putting him at odds with much of his liberal political base, but winning striking praise from Republicans who contrasted his sober decisions against the accusations of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi that the CIA has lied to her and Congress continually.

"I think you see the difference between a man who understands the war and the threat and a politician who is bent on political revenge," said Sen. Lindsey Graham, South Carolina Republican.

"What's driving Nancy Pelosi is this hatred of [former President George W.] Bush, and being in bed with the hard left," Mr. Graham said. "Contrast that with the president of the United States, who's making some pretty intelligent, well-reasoned decisions about trying to clean up the old system but not throwing it out."

Congressional Democrats took a wait-and-see approach toward Mr. Obama's Friday decision to allow some military commissions to try terrorism suspects, but that and his other actions last week earned the president the ire of part of his political base.

A leader of the antiwar group Code Pink said she now wonders at what point her organization should begin to refer to Mr. Obama as a "war criminal."

"To see all of these turnarounds is very disappointing," said Medea Benjamin, co-founder of Code Pink. "I think he's afraid of alienating a lot of these military and their families and the right-wing media that has just attacked him viciously."

You often hear talk of presidents "growing in office". I'm not sure if Obama's position switches constitute growth or just a recognition of political realities. I still think that in his heart of hearts he would love to have done all the things he's just reversed, but somebody woke him up to the realities of what would happen and the political cost was just too great for a first term president who would like to be a two term president.

It's clear that even the lefty Code Pinkos aren't really sure what they're dealing with. If they thought his turn to the right was sincere they wouldn't be debating when to start calling him a war criminal. They'd be out there doing it.
